Matt has had some significant changes over the past few days. Not only is he opening his eyes but he is looking around the room and looking at people. Really looking at people, with real eye contact. In the past when he was practicing opening his eyes he was doing just that, practicing; it didn’t appear he was really seeing much. Now he can SEE his visitors! He is moving his body A LOT! He is moving his arms almost constantly in big movements. He moves his left arm up way over his head. He is wearing big padded mitts on his hands because he has been trying to pull his Trach tube and anything else that is attached to him. He does seem to get agitated and seems really uncomfortable much of the time, but who wouldn’t after a month of lying around? He moves his whole body and legs and sometimes looks like he is trying to sit up. He is really waking up now! Matt’s family is working hard to manage his care in this new setting. They will continue to meet with the doctors and staff to make sure all of his needs are being met.
Thanks so much to those who have been spending time visiting with Matt. He still needs visitors, especially during the daytime. He is becoming so active that it really helps to have people there to keep an eye on him since he pulls at his bedding, wires, neck brace, etc. All of your thoughts and prayers are reaching Matt, he has come a long, long way. He still has a long road ahead of him so please keep the love flowing!
